Man Sentenced For Hitting Pedestrian

A man's been jailed for a year and a half for offences including dangerous driving after hitting a pedestrian on Grafton Way in Ipswich in August.

43-year-old John Moir from Belstead road in Ipswich has been sentenced for hitting a 43-year old-man on Grafton Way in Ipswich on the 30th August this year.

He was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment for dangerous driving, 4 months imprisonment for failing to stop and failing to report a road traffic collision (to run consecutively) and 4 months for driving whilst disqualified (to run concurrently).  There was no separate penalty awarded for no insurance.  He was also disqualified from driving for 5 years.

The victim continues to recover well at home and there is a possibility he may return to work in the New Year.
