Police have confirmed the identities of the man and teenage boy who died at Bawsey, near King's Lynn.

Police have confirmed the identities of the man and teenage boy who died at Bawsey, near King's Lynn, on Tuesday (16 July 2013).

They are Ryan Pettengell, 41, of Railway Road, King's Lynn, and Umar Balogun, 16, from the Waltham Forest area of London.

Their bodies were recovered from separate lakes at local beauty spot Bawsey Pits on Tuesday evening following a major search and rescue operation by emergency services and partner agencies, after both had separately been reported getting into difficulties in the water.

Post mortem examinations were carried out yesterday, confirming the cause of death for both as drowning.

Enquiries by police, working with the Health and Safety Executive and King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council, to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragic events continue.

Inquests into both deaths will be opened by the Coroner in due course.
