Norwich: Man Admits Burglary At Jewellers

A man's admitted carrying out a burglary in Norwich after he was trapped by security shutters.

Police were called to Dipple and Sons in Swan Lane shortly after 12.30pm on Monday, February 25 following reports a man had smashed windows in the shop entrance with a hammer.

Security shutters were closed, trapping the suspect inside the entrance, until officers arrived and arrested Hutton. Jewellery worth £3,655 has been stolen from window display, which was recovered.

The man was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and later charged. Hutton will be sentenced at Norwich Crown Court at a later date.

29 year old Daniel Hutton, of Lothian Street, Norwich will be sentenced at a later date.

Investigating officer, Det Con Mike Cox, said: “This was a very serious offence and a frightening experience for those involved. Thankfully no-one was injured and the action of staff led to the suspect being trapped before he was arrested. We are pleased that Hutton has admitted guilty at the first opportunity.”
