A man is due in court this morning accused of taking £3,600 worth of jewellery in a burglary on Norwich jewellers.

Police were called to Dipples and Sons in Swan Lane shortly after 12.30pm yesterday after reports a man had smashed windows in the shop entrance with a hammer.

Security shutters were closed, trapping the suspect inside the entrance. Jewellery had been taken from window displays at the entrance.

Officers were dispatched to the area and detained a man at the scene. He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and later charged in connection with the incident.

29-year-old Daniel Hutton, of Lothian Street, Norwich, will appear before the city magistrates' court this morning charged with burglary, stealing a quantity of jewellery worth £3,655.
