Police are trying to find out what happened to two men found unconscious in Norwich at the weekend.
The first incident happened shortly after 11.50pm when officers were called to Prince of Wales Road following reports a man had been assaulted.
Officers arrived on scene to find a man unconscious on the pavement and the victim, aged in his 20s, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with serious head injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.
A number of people were arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and remain in custody at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre.
Meanwhile, in a separate and unrelated incident, officers are carrying out enquiries to establish how a man came to be injured in Riverside Road earlier this morning.
Officers were called to the area, near to the junction with Prince of Wales Road, shortly after 1.10am following reports a man was unconscious.
Police attended and the man, aged in his 20s, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where he received treatment for a fractured cheekbone. He has since been released from hospital.
Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and the area was cordoned off until 9.20am while officers carried out enquiries.
