Two men have been rescued by the Sheringham lifeboat after getting into trouble in the waves last night.
The lifeboat was called at 6.36pm by a former crewman who told the crew that a Kayak had capsized in the surf whilst trying to come ashore at the west beach in Sheringham.
His colleague in a second Kayak was told to wait away from the surf for help from the lifeboat.
The lifeboat was launched at 6.40pm and was on the scene minutes later.
The crew have told Heart that the swell had been building all afternoon and the waves had reached 1.5 metres, proving very difficult for the Kayaks to ‘run’ ashore in the fading light.
The canoeist and his Kayak were taken on board the Lifeboat which returned safely to station.
Both men were checked by paramedics on scene and the person who had capsized was taken to hospital for observation and further checks.
