SOS Help for Drinkers in Yarmouth

A new unit is getting set up on Yarmouth sea front to help people if they get into trouble whilst on a night out.

The Waveney NHS Trust has funded the project for six months both at Great Yarmouth and a second one will be opening in Lowestoft in a few weeks time.

It will run in a similar way to the SOS bus that has run successfully in Norwich on Prince of Wales Road for the last few years.

The project will run from 9pm to 3am on Marine Parade each Saturday and will be located opposite the old empire cinema.

One of the goals of the unit is to keep alcohol admissions from the James Paget hospital as low as possible.

It is being run by the St John's Ambulance and they are appealing for volunteers to come forward both in Yarmouth and Lowestoft to help with the project.
