Stowmarket: Man Arrested After Woman Hit By Train

A 37-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was hit by a train.

British Transport Police were called to Spikes Lane Crossing in Stowmarket yesterday after a woman in her 20s was hit by a train.

The woman suffered head and pelvis injuries and was taken to hospital where she is still being treated. Her injuries are thought to be serious but not life-threatening.

A 37-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested by police on the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

British Transport Police said:

“The incident is currently being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident, including how the woman came to be on the tracks.”

They are asking anyone who may have seen the incident to contact officers on 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 362 of 23/02/14.
