Police are telling Heart about a man they want to speak to after a 14-year-old girl reported someone trying to grab her and making sexual comments.

The teenage girl says it happened after a man repeatedly approached her on the Lowestoft seafront area around 8.55pm -  9.05pm on Monday 29th August.

Officers were called to Station Square to reports of a distressed girl who said a man had tried to grab her. She was walking from the Claremont Pier area towards the South Pier when the man approached and asked her for her bike. She refused and got on the bike to cycle away from him. She stopped just short of the fountains but then saw the man again walking towards her. He then tried to grab her before asking her questions and making sexual comments towards her. The 14-year-old managed to cycle away again but was very upset and stopped in Station Square where she was approached a woman who saw she was distressed. As she spoke to the woman the man again appeared but quickly turned around when he saw the two talking. The woman then went up to the man and challenged him about his behaviour before he walked away and the woman then alerted police.

Police are now trying to trace a man described as white, in his mid 30s to early 40s, around 5ft 9ins tall, quite chubby, who was wearing a light-coloured jumper and blue jeans.

Officers are asking anyone who may have seen a man approaching the girl or anyone with information about who he is to call DC 1368 Rose at Lowestoft on 01986 835300.
