The first act to be playing a big outdoor gig at Thetford Forest next summer's been confirmed as Paul Weller.

Paul Weller is the first artist to sign up for the Forestry Commission’s Forest Live concert programme, with summer dates for 2013 in spectacular woodland locations in East Anglia.

Very few performers have enjoyed the kind of success and influence over four decades that Paul Weller has: six era-defining albums with The Jam; five with The Style Council and eleven as a solo artist including his most recent Number One release ‘Sonik Kicks’, the follow-up to 2010’s Mercury Music Prize nominated ‘Wake Up The Nation’. The ever-changing Weller continues to garner acclaim from the media, respect from his peers and adulation from his loyal fan base, ensuring the mantle of being one of the greatest singer-songwriters of British popular music.

Forest Live is an independent programme organised by the Forestry Commission bringing music to new audiences without commercial branding or sponsorship. Income from the concerts is spent on improving the woodland for both people and wildlife.

Having performed previously to capacity crowds in 2004 and 2009, Paul Weller said, “It will be good for me to be back in the woods. I really enjoy the unique atmosphere of these gigs as do the fans.”

Paul Weller plus special guests will be performing:

Friday 12th July      Thetford Forest, nr Brandon, Suffolk.
