A man has been left with serious injuries following an incident in Thetford last night.
Officers were called to the Norwich Road area of the town at around 9.45pm after reports of a male in distress.
Fire and ambulance were also contacted and on arrival a man was found with severe burns close to the Tesco store.
An air ambulance has been sent to the area and the man, who is described as being in a critical condition, is being taken to the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmund's.
Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident however, at this stage no-one else is believed to be involved.
Norfolk Constabulary would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened or seen a distressed male in the area prior to the incident.
Witnesses are asked to contact Norfolk Constabulary on 101.
