Police have released CCTV images of a gang who broke into a KFC in Northampton.

The four hooded men broke into the restaurant on Towcester Road at about 11.20pm on Friday, May 30.

They set off the fire extinguisher to scare staff, before pointing it at a taxi driver waiting at the drive-thru window.

After they failed to steal the till, two of the men fled empty-handed in a Nissan Qashqai, which had been stolen earlier in the day from a house in St James. It later crashed on the roundabout where Towcester Road meets St Leonards Road, about 200 yards away from KFC.

The other two men left the restaurant by foot, but it is believed one of them stole a bicycle as he ran along the footpath behind the Carlsberg brewery.

Police are investigating.
