Cleaner Dies After Lift Shaft Fall

A cleaner who fell 50ft down a lift shaft at a shopping centre has died.

Paul Dolphin, 34, who was working for SAS UK LImited of Swindon, Wiltshire was working at the Newlands Centre in Kettering on Sunday April 22 when the accident happened. 

He was airlifted to the Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry suffering from a fractured skull, a broken ankle and broken ribs. 

Mr Dolphin died at the hospital on Friday. 

Health and safety officers at Kettering Council have launched an investigation.
