The extradition of a man wanted by Northamptonshire Police in connection with a number of serious sexual offences has been approved by the Ghanaian government.
Northants Police requested the extradition of Deeba Akyampong in December 2012, via the Home Office and British High Commission in Ghana.
The 35 year old was arrested in January this year and remanded into custody by Osu Magistrates’ Court.
Mr Akyampong landed at Heathrow Airport this morning and will now be transported to Northamptonshire. He is expected to appear at Northampton Magistrates’ Court later today.
He has been extradited in connection with five offences of rape of a child under the age of 13 and one offence of ABH.
