An 80-year-old woman was robbed as she walked her dog in Milton Malsor, Northants on Tuesday.
They were in Collingtree Road at some time between 5pm and 5.15pm when she was approached by a man, who had stepped out of an estate car.
The woman could not understand the man, who then placed his hands firmly on her shoulders and snatched the gold chain that she was wearing around her neck.
The chain was ripped from the woman's neck and the offender then walked away from the woman and spoke to another woman who was coming out of her house, close to the scene of the robbery.
He then got into the driver's seat of a blue or silver metallic estate car and drove out of Milton Malsor towards Collingtree.
The man is described as aged about 50. He was about 5ft 9ins tall, balding with greasy brown hair and he was wearing a light blue top.
A woman front-seat passenger is described as having scruffy brown hair. There was a young boy in the back of the car, aged about six or seven.
