Heart has been to see inside Merseyside's new £250m hospital
A year after building work started on Springfield Park, and a year until the hospital is due to open it's doors to patients, Alder Hey has passed a milestone today (Fri 27th).
Builders Laing O'Rourke along with architects, the hospital trust, patients and staff, have help a topping out ceremony. This is when the final piece of roof is secured in place.
The hospital is being built on Springfield Park with grass being grown up the curved exterior of the new hospital to give the impression that it is built into the park. The current Alder Hey site will be handed back to the council, where it will be demolished and the land turned into park land.
The above video, from Alder Hey, shows what the hospital will look like.
