Bank of America has announced its intention to create a regional technology and operations centre in Chester as part of the bank’s Global Technology and Operations organisation.

Among other things, the new centre will support Bank of America’s Global Banking and Markets and Wealth Management businesses across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

It is hoped that work to create the new centre will commence in 2012 and, if all goes to plan, it will be fully operational by mid-2013, creating a significant number of jobs in the Chester area. A small number of similar roles are currently based at the Chester site.

Earlier this year the business announced they will be closing down their credit card offices in the city - with the loss of 250 staff.
