Shopping Code of Conduct

The one thing that winds Spence up the most is when the person in front of you at the checkout doesn't put the "Next Customer Please" sign out.

So here at Heart Breakfast we've created the Code of Conduct for the Weekly Shop. Thanks for all your help with it - did your rules make it online? Have a look here...

Sue in Wrexham - I don’t like it when people pay for their shopping with a card or cheque and the shopping comes to UNDER FIVE POUND …Jeez , haven’t they got change in their pocket

**

Rachael in Oswestry - husbands should never shout across aisles asking what size towels to buy! Even if it is meant as a joke!

**

Stacy from Prenton - we need to sort a one-way system

**

Neil from Hoole - Spacing, make sure your items are not spaced too close or too far from each other. If you have few items make sure the space is equal to your body size, nothing worse than someone who has cramped all the items together but then doesn't like the fact you are crowding them.

**

Claire in Tarvin - Make sure bottles don't tip over, lay them down if possible.

**

Ashley from Abergele - If in a group of people don't take up all the space, ask the other's to wait at the end of the till.

**

Lloyd from Coedpoeth - Place items on the till in the order you will be packing them. E.g. Bulky Items first, breakables last

**

Serena in Gayton - Push your trolley in front of you through the checkout as having it behind you blocks access to the conveyor belt for the next customer. There will still be their trolley between your to protect your personal space.

**

Lucy from Neston - Have the courtesy to know where your payment is and not faff around for 10 mins looking in your big bag or pockets.

**

Mandy in Birkenhead - No queue jumping. Some old goat tried that one on me the other day. "I've only got these bananas"

**

Lynette in Rhos on Sea - I use the self-scan checkouts in my local Tesco so I have little need for etiquette. Once my 8 year old daughter trained me up on how to use them I've never looked back...

**

Dan from St Asaph - Wait til the customer has packed and left before moving up to the packing area. i hate being hovered over by the next person. if the checkout person starts throwing the next persons shopping down before I have left and even go so far as to say "Can you just hang on a minute please".

**

Lindsay from Holywell - Pack your trolley quicker than the checkout operator can pass the items through. It's a point of pride with me

**

Peter in Chester - Pay and go away. Don't hang around nattering and sorting through your groceries.

**

Matt from Frodsham - If you are shopping on your own, never, ever, ever 'pop' back for that item you've forgotten once you started loading. If you haven't finished shopping, you shouldn't be in the queue

If someone is with you, you may send them to get an extra item, providing that you will not have had all your other shopping scanned through and packed before they return

**

Belle in Saughall Massie - Try to use the belt sensibly - it lets people load there stuff on without leaving massive gaps as well.

**

Phil in Johnstown - Once you've paid, don't peruse your receipt. Make way for the next customer.

**

Emma from Rhos – One for the staff: Keep your scanning at pace with the packing. If someone is getting behind, slow down to let them catch up. Likewise, if they are a packing demon, you can scan faster too
