Man Dies in Flat Fire

A man's died in a fire in a flat in Banbury.

Firefighters were called to the basement flat in West Street at 10.30am on Wednesday 14 April 2010 by passers-by, who saw smoke coming from the property.

When the crews from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service entered the building, it was too late to save the man, who died at the scene.

Police aren't treating the death as suspicious.

Detective Inspector Steve Duffy from Thames Valley Police said:

"At this stage the death is not believed to be suspicious. Together with the fire service we are conducting enquiries into how this has happened."
