Petrol Station Pays Out Compensation

1 April 2010, 15:08

A petrol station in Wantage is having to pay out compensation to drivers after the diesel and petrol pumps were mixed up.

Drivers who filled up with the wrong fuel reported they had problems with their engines to Sainsburys before it closed down yesterday.

Sainsburys says it was due to a 'technical fault' with the pumps.

In a statement Sainsburys told us:

"Following a technical problem at our Wantage petrol filling station, a small number of cars have experienced some mechanical problems. As soon as we were made aware of the situation we closed down the filling station and called in experts who are working to resolve the issue.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and urge anyone who believes their car was affected to contact our Customer Careline on 0800 636 262."

The petrol station is due to re-open this afternoon.
