A1307 Delays

Lincolnshire County Council is sending out a leaflet to people frustrated that a new road is taking so long to open.

The new A1073, which will run between Eye, near Peterborough and Spalding, was supposed to be open earlier this year.

Now the council hopes to reassure local residents, schools, businesses and authorities that everything is being done to get it open.

The delays are down to cracks appearing in part of the road near Peterborough.

Councillor William Webb, Executive Member for Highways, said: "We fully appreciate that motorists and residents alike want to see this matter resolved quickly and we can make the assurance that everything possible is being done to achieve this.

It will be a highly significant route which will bring many benefits, but this is all the more reason to ensure it is done correctly and safely.

Issues of ground stabilisation are complex ones and we have therefore been taking a series of readings over time to establish the cause of the problem.

Naturally, there are a number of questions being asked around this and we’ve therefore put together a Frequently Asked Questions leaflet to help keep everyone up to date and informed."
