March: Dustcart And Lorry Crash

A man is critically hurt after a crash between a dustcart and a lorry in March.

Emergency services were called to the crash at Hostmoor Avenue at around 6:30am today (Friday).

According to Cambridgeshire Police, one vehicle was moving and one was stationery.

Five ambulances were called to the scene, along with a Hazardous Area Response Team and the emergency medical charity Magpas.

Two men were injured, one of whom remains critically hurt.

Cambridgeshire Police advised drivers to avoid the area following the crash.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Emergency crews did brilliantly to extract and stabilise the casualties as quickly as they did. 

One casualty suffered major trauma after being trapped inside the dustcart and was transported to Addenbrookes where he remains in a critical condition. 

The second casualty suffered a broken leg and was conveyed to Peterborough City Hospital."
