A man who sexually assaulted a teenager in a Cambridgeshire town more than ten years ago has been jailed.
48 year old Leslie Day [pictured] raped the victim in the Fenland town of March back in the 1990s when she was 13 years old.
Cambridgeshire Police say he also sexually assaulted her several times.
The victim reported the crimes to Police last year, after telling a friend what had happened.
Day, who was then living in Kilkenny in Ireland, was arrested in February this year and extradited back to Cambridgeshire to face the charges.
He pleaded guilty to rape, attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and gross indecency with a child at Cambridge Crown Court.
He was sentenced to a total of eight years at Cambridge Crown Court today (Friday).
Judge Anthony Bate recommended Day be deported back to Ireland after he has served his sentence.
Detective Constable Natalie Bottom, who investigated, said: "The victim showed great bravery in coming forward after such a long time in order to bring her abuser to justice.
This case shows that even after many years, we are still able to successfully prosecute offenders.
People who have committed historic offences should be warned that they face a knock on the door from police."
