The father of a two-year-old girl who died after an alleged attack has paid tribute to his "little princess''.

Toddler Amina Agboola, from Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, died last week after being taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries.

Her mother's boyfriend, Dean Harris, 19, of Scott Drive, Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, has been charged with murder.

A Facebook group has been set up to raise money for floral tributes for Amina.

In a message to the group, Reuben Agboola said: "I want to thank everyone for the continuing love, prayer and support for my little princess.

"I am extremely grateful and proud to have her as my child, I believe she is now at a better place safe.

"Please keep that seat warm for me... we'll meet again and reunite. Rest in peace my princess.''

A post-mortem examination found Amina died from a ruptured liver as the result of a "blunt force trauma''.

The girl's mother, was arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child and has been released on police bail.

The couple were arrested after taking her to hospital themselves.
