Meet Whaplode's Torchbearer:

London 2012 Olympic torch Name: Jez Page
Age: 51
From: Grantham
Nomination Story: "Jez has run over 100 marathons and many more half marathons, 10kms etc, many of them sponsored. He prefers offroad events and challenges which are organised by local communities because they raise funds for village halls, scout groups, mountain rescue groups and schools. He has supported, through sponorship, the Samaritans, Asthma UK, Donor Families UK, the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research, Rainbows Hospice, Loughborough and the Alzheimers Society. Over the years he has quietly raised thousands of pounds for charity while using running (excercise) to help him manage his own mental health issues. Prior to taking up running seriously he was a referee for the local youth football leagues. Many for the boys he came across through football still stop to speak to him. They remember his strong sense of fair play; taking no nonsense from players on the pitch, for which he was widely respected, or from their families on the touchline thus ensuring everyone could enjoy the sport without intimidation."
