War Horse Hits The Big Screen

Steven Spielberg's First World War blockbuster War Horse has arrived in Devon's cinemas.

And many of its outdoor scenes were filmed in the stunning setting of Dartmoor.

It's based on the novel by Devon author Michael Morpugo, who was inspired to write it after talking to World War 1 veterans in his local pub.

As well as showcasing the area's amazing scenery, the film was also an opportunity for local people to get involved.

Stephen Earp runs a pub in the village of Meavy, which was one of the locations used.

He tells us what it was like to have a Hollywood blockbuster arrive on his doorstep.

Some locals even managed to grab a bit of screen time, like farmer Neil Cole.

He was an extra in the film, and here he shares some of his experiences, including £400 fake facial hair and his dog almost getting him the sack!
