Police investigating an alleged hit and run near Horton are trying to find the driver of a black Volkswagen Golf.
Officers have released a CCTV still of the car, which is believed to have been driven at a man who had got out of his car to ask a cyclist if he was ok, after he himself had been aggressively overtaken by the Golf.
it is claimed the driver of the Golf then turned around, pulled up behind the Renault Scenic and shouted abuse at the driver.
The Golf driver is then said to have revved the engine and deliberately driven at the other driver, throwing him into the air.
The alleged incident took place on Saturday morning on an unclassified road between Barrington Hill Road and Wood Road near Horton.
Detective Constable Andy Tearle said:
"This was a deliberate assault by the driver who used his vehicle as a weapon.
"Paramedics who attended the scene said that the injuries could easily have been a lot worse so we're taking this incident very seriously.
"I'd like to identify this vehicle and its owner and I'm appealing to our communities in Somerset to take a look at the footage and let us know if they recognise this vehicle.
I would also like to hear from anyone who has been asked to fix a similar vehicle - particularly if it had damage to its front or side.
If you can help please call Yeovil CID on 101 and quote 62436/14."
Callers can also contact Crimestoppers, anonymously if they prefer, on 0800 555 111.
