An investigation has begun after a woman died in Taunton yesterday.
At around 6pm the ambulance service reported concerns they had for a woman they were treating at a property in Dover Road. She was taken to hospital but did not survive and police have begun some enquiries to establish what happened.
At this stage they are treating her death as unexplained.
Officers have met with the woman's family to tell them and they are currently being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.
The scene remains cordoned off while we continue our enquiries and a forensic team is expected to be there for much of the day.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in custody helping us with our enquiries.
Anyone who has information they believe might help us should contact Taunton CID on 101.
Alternatively, if you want to remain anonymous, please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or through their online form. If the information you provide to Crimestoppers leads to the arrest and charge of an offender, you may be eligible for a reward.
