Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, in partnership with South Central Ambulance Service, provides a lifeline to injured and sick people in the local community, and this relies on the expertise of its crew, both pilots and paramedics.

The helicopter's been used for more than 2,500 emergencies since 2007 and gets called out around 4 times a day.

HIOWAA and SCAS are pleased to announce that the team of dedicated and skilled paramedics flying on the Air Ambulance has grown from five to ten, with the introduction of five new paramedics.

John Perry, Chief Executive of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance said:

“Following a gruelling application and training programme, we are enormously pleased to welcome five highly skilled paramedics to the HIOWAA team.

“Six have been training at Thruxton, and one of them will be starting with Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance. Each of them has many years of experience within the Ambulance Service; five are from SCAS and one from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. The extra training required to fly with the Air Ambulance means that our crews have skills of the highest calibre.

“Our new paramedics will be helping support Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance at some of the shows and events throughout the year, as they know how vital the community support is to the charity.

“With no government or national lottery funding, we rely solely on the generosity of the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.”
