Biker Who Died In M3 Crash Named

Police have named the motorcyclist who died following a collision on the M3 on Friday as Krasimir Hristov Tanchev from Basingstoke.

The 53-year-old was travelling southbound between junctions 5 and 6 of the motorway at around midnight (Friday into Saturday) when he came off his 125cc Wuyang motorcycle.

The circumstances are not fully clear but Mr Tanchev was struck by at least one vehicle. He died at the scene.

The driver of a black Vauxhall Corsa, a 29-year-old man from Dorset was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been bailed until December 14 pending further enquiries.

The road was closed until 6am on Saturday (25 Sept) to allow investigators to examine the scene.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either driver prior to the crash.
