Charges After Man Blinded In Club Attack
A 29-year-old Southampton man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after another man lost the sight in one eye after being punched in a nightclub in Southampton city centre.
The hit led to a larger brawl breaking out inside the Cellar Bar (Formally known as the Soul Cellar) in West Marlands Road. Staff quickly broke the fight up and most of those involved left the building.
The 47-year-old victim was out with family members and workmates to celebrate Christmas when he was punched in the face by a man.
The blow caused a serious injury to his left eye which has resulted in him permanently losing the site in that eye.
The attack happened at around 3am on Saturday, December 15.
Thomas Goff from Northam Road, Southampton has appeared before the city’s magistrates court charged with the attack and has been committed to Southampton Crown Court where he will next appear on February 18.
