Dog Shot Dead In Hampshire

A family dog's been shot dead outside the home of its owners in Hampshire.

It happened on Tuesday, July the 12th at around 10.30pm in Broad Acre, Longparish, near Andover.

A couple were inside their home when they heard their golden retriever in distress outside. They went to investigate and found the dog dead.

It had been shot by an air weapon on the left side of its body near the ribcage.

Neighbours said they'd heard a single gunshot on the night it happened.

Two weeks prior to this someone reported seeing a person walking along the hedge of the couple’s property and believes they were carrying a broken shot gun over their arm.

The dog’s owner also claims that he has seen men in the past in the fields behind his house with shot guns. Five weeks prior to his dog’s death the owner says he saw a man with what he thinks was a 22 rifle with a silencer attached.

The couple have also suffered a range of mysterious attacks prior to this incident such as their chickens going missing and they believe they are being targeted.

Police are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time and may have seen the incident or have any information to contact Detective Constable Phil Jackson at Andover police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on
0800 555 111.
