Gang of 8 Attack Hampshire Man

Police in Winchester are releasing e-fits of two suspects in a robbery that happened on the footpath at the rear of the Ship Inn, Wales Street on Sunday, December 5.

Between 2am and 3am, a 20-year-old man was walking on the footpath when he was approached from the back by a group of approximately eight men. He was attacked and pulled down to the ground where he was punched
and robbed of his personal items - a brown, leather wallet, £15 in cash, cigarette packet and lighter, gold necklace, and a gold ring.

The victim was taken to Royal Hampshire County Hospital for treatment to cut and swelling injuries to his face, neck and ribs.

Detective Constable Elaine Cawkill said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or has any information about this group of individuals. Please look closely at the e-fits, and if you recognise either man, please get in touch.

"Shortly before the assault, the victim met up with a man near to the El Sabio restaurant in Easton Lane, and walked with him into Water Lane.  We would like to trace him as he may have valuable information.
