Hit and Run Boy Dies in Hospital

A seven-year-old boy who was dragged 60 yards along a road underneath a van by a hit-and-run driver has died of his injuries.

Ehsaan Haque from Portsmouth was knocked over after getting out of his uncle's car in Ilford, east London, last month.

He was left in a critical condition with multiple wounds until his death at Southampton General Hospital this afternoon (August 10th 2010).

Detectives have appealed to the public to help them trace the driver, who raced from the scene after getting out to see the terribly injured boy.

The collision occurred as Ehsaan was visiting relatives in Leyswood Drive at about 5.15pm on Wednesday July 28.

The suspect, described as white with blond spiky hair, was driving a blue Toyota Hiace Powervan and escaped on to the A12.

Detective Inspector Simon Sharp said:

"We urgently appeal to the driver of the van to come forward, and ask anyone who recognises either the man in the e-fit or the van to contact us.  Anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant you feel it may be, should call us as soon as possible.''

Anyone with information should call 0208 597 4874 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
