Kings Of Leon To Play IOW Festival

The Kings of Leon have been announced as the first headliners of next year's Isle of Wight Festival.

The US rockers will be taking to the stage on the Friday night as their only festival appearance of the year, according to the event organisers.

Further headliners are to be announced this week for the Isle of Wight Festival, which will be celebrating its 10th anniversary next year and tickets will go on sale on Friday.

John Giddings, the festival promoter, said:

"We are proud to bring one of the world's biggest rock bands to the island on our 10th anniversary.

"It is an incredible way to start the weekend, I can't wait.''

The Tennessee four-piece will be touring to promote their fifth album, Come Around Sundown, which was their third consecutive album to debut at number one in the UK album charts upon release.

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place from June 10 to 12 at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight.
