Man Arrested Over Robbery At Student Halls

Police investigating a knife-point robbery at a student halls in Portsmouth have arrested and charged a man.

Paul Anthony Williams, 42, of Canal Walk, Portsmouth, was detained by Targeted Patrol police officers on Saturday morning following enquiries by Portsmouth CID.

He was interviewed and charged with robbing a student at Harry Law Hall on Thursday, November 18, of £15 and a mobile phone.

Williams was also charged with three other offences:

Stealing a laptop in a burglary at the Compass Centre on Arundel Street, Wednesday, November 17

Robbing a 41-year-old man of £50 and a mobile phone on Albert Road on Saturday, November 20

Attempting to break into a home at Windsor House, Canal Walk, October 28

Williams appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates Court this morning (Monday, November 22) and was remanded in custody.

His case will be heard again at the Magistrates court next Monday.

Police are continuing their investigations into the robbery at Harry Law Halls and would like to hear from anyone who can assist with enquiries.

The victim, 20, disturbed two men in her room around 11.30pm. They threatened her and took money and her mobile phone.
