Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked outside a house on Southampton Road, Paulsgrove in Portsmouth.

At around 10.30pm on Thursday, April 8, the 39-year-old became involved in an altercation with three men.

One of them hit him in the face, causing bleeding and swelling. He suffered a minor cut to his eyebrow.

The attacker is described as:

  • White man
  • 5ft 6ins
  • Between 19 and 22-years-old
  • Big build
  • Long, dark hair, but shorter than shoulder length
  • Wearing black tracksuit bottoms and no top

One of the other men in the group was wearing an orange or yellow-coloured jacket.

PC Paul Freeman from the Targeted Patrol team at Fratton police station said: “The victim was punched to the ground before the group ran off, possibly towards the community centre up the road. It’s a particularly nasty attack which happened in full view of a busy main road.”
