Police in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a man was found in an alleyway heavily bleeding with a stab wound in the city on Thursday, April 12.
At about 2.40pm a woman called police after she received a knock at her door in Chelveston Crescent from another woman in a distressed state to say a man had been stabbed and to call the police.
Officers attended the scene and discovered a 28-year-old man with a stab wound to one of his legs which was bleeding badly on an alley off the road . He had been to a flat in nearby Croydon Close.
When he arrived at the address he was attacked by two men who stabbed him. It’s believed he was attacked in the flat and then ran off to where he was found.
He describes both his attackers as black. Police have recovered a machete in a bin nearby and two men have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.
Police are appealing for witnesses who saw anyone in the area acting suspiciously or saw the attackers run away from the scene.
Officers believe this was an isolated and targeted attack. Extra patrols are also taking place in the area to provide reassurance to local people and to try and locate witnesses.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Shirley CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
