Hampshire Police say there have been possible sightings of a missing girl who was the victim of human trafficking.
Suong Thi Bui, aged 17, vanished from her home in Lawrence Road, Ringwood. She was last seen at home at 4am on Saturday 19 October and had left home by 10.30am at the latest.
Following an appeal for information, police received a large number of calls giving details of unconfirmed sightings.
These sightings go as far east as Chichester in Sussex, as far west as Blandford Forum in Dorset and some as far away as London.
All of these lines of enquiry are being followed up today. These enquiries have been prioritised based on description, location and other aspects of the circumstances.
Detective Inspector Jim Park said:
“I would like to thank the public for an excellent response to our media appeal. This has given us some encouraging lines of enquiry to follow up.
“Anyone who thinks they have seen Suong, but who hasn’t yet contacted the police, is encouraged to ring me or Detective Sergeant Will Whale at Southampton Central on 101 to report sightings.”
She was brought to the UK through illegal human trafficking and was put into the care of social services after being found working.
