More Police Front Desks Closing

Hampshire Constabulary has been reviewing the location and opening times of our front offices in order to reflect the way they are being used by members of the public.

Following this review, the following front offices will close to the public on Friday, March 16, 2012:

* Tadley * Whitchurch * Farnborough * Fleet * Yateley * Whitehill * Petersfield * Bishops Waltham * Waterlooville * Hayling Island * Parkgate * Fratton * Romsey * Hedge End * Ringwood * Shirley * Portswood

The front offices at Hythe, Lyndhurst, New Milton, Shanklin, Cosham and Cowes have already closed during recent weeks.

The restructuring of the front counter services forms part of the constabulary's efforts to make savings of between £40m and £50m by 2015.

People can phone 101 from the convenience of their own home for all non-emergency police matters such as reporting a crime, obtaining advice and information, or finding out about beat surgeries or other police events in their area.

101 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and calls from landlines or mobile networks cost 15 pence per call, no matter what time of day or how long you are on the phone.

Through phoning 101, residents will also be able to arrange a visit by an officer at a mutually convenient time and place.

For those matters that cannot be dealt with over the phone, such as producing documents at the request of an officer, alternative front offices are located at Southampton Central, Bitterne, Eastleigh, and Totton police stations.
