Work has started on a new splash pool for Southsea seafront.

The pool is being built on the site of the old bowling greens and will include a sand pit, play equipment and shaded areas. It is aimed at families with children aged 8 and under and will be free to use.

Earlier this year Portsmouth City Council approved a new strategy for the seafront. The pool meets one of the strategy's aim to improve facilities for young people and families.'

Cllr Lee Hunt, Member for culture, leisure and sport said: 'The splash pool is another example of the continued improvements that we are making to Southsea seafront. I expect it to be a real hit with children and young families.'
