Police Warning About Christmas Burglaries

Thieves have stolen £1,600 worth of items from Southsea home.

Someone broke into the house on Stansted Road, off Victoria Road South, sometime between 11am and 6.15pm, Sunday, December 12th.

They took items including a TV, an iPod and accessories, computers and accessories, digital camera, a soda siphon and a suitcase.

PC Jamie Baker from Portsmouth’s Targeted Patrol team said:

“The victim has lost a great deal of expensive electrical equipment which would be devastating at any time of the year but doesn’t bear thinking about this close to Christmas.

“Please let us know if you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area of Stansted Road and Lawson Road, especially someone carrying a large and heavy-looking cream suitcase.

“If you’re buying lots of expensive items as Christmas gifts, don’t leave them on show from the outside of your house because it’s just temptation for burglars.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Baker on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
