Portsmouth Burglary

The incident took place at some time between 11.30pm on Thursday, April 8 and 12.30am on Friday, April 9, in the yard of a terraced house on Fratton Road, Portsmouth.

The occupants of the flat became aware that something was wrong when they noticed that the shed door was ajar. They went to check that all was in order and a man was discovered crouched in the shed with the occupants’ jacket over his head. When disturbed he apologised and stated that he had been in a fight. When the occupants called the police the man fled over the garden wall. 

The male is described as:

  • White
  • Around 5ft 10ins
  • Blond spiky hair
  • He is described as having a red flushed appearance
  • Medium build
  • In his early twenties.
  • He was wearing a pale grey/blue or tan coloured jacket which was zipped up and about waist length and made of a light fabric.
  • He spoke with a local accent

PC Nicola Rose, said: “I am appealling for any information from anyone who may have seen this intruder or recognise the description given. We would also like to hear from anyone who has experienced similar incidents, including people running through gardens after dark. “As always, people in the local area are advised to make sure outbuildings are secured as a preventative measure and to consider suitable security lighting and/or fencing to outside space as a deterrent.”
