Sleeping Rough In Chichester
19 October 2013, 08:27
More than a hundred people will be sleeping rough outside Chichester Cathedral tonight.
They're taking part in the 'Big Sleep Out' which is an event aimed at raising awareness about homeless people.
The event is organised by the charity Stonepillow, which helps those living on the streets in the area, it's aiming to raise 10 thousand pounds tonight, with all of those taking part being sponsored to sleep outside.
The charity's Chief Executive Sylvie Johnston says: "The whole point is to remind people what it might be like to be a homesless person and it's very important to raise awareness".
With rain forecast, people taking part have to bring and make their own cardboard shelter and there is a competition for the best construction. There's also activities and entertainment along with a service in the Cathedral.
