Southampton Family Threatened By Knifemen

Police in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a family became the victim of a knifepoint aggravated burglary.

At around midnight on May 3/4 a man aged 33 and a woman aged 24 living at a flat in Colwell Close heard knocking at the door from people claiming to be the police. They refused to open the door not believing them and they went away.

Then at around 12:45am after the couple had gone back to bed the door was burst down by two men one armed with a knife.

They threatened them and demanded money. They were disturbed by the couple’s 3 year old son who came out of his room screaming making the men run away. There was also a young baby in the house who stayed asleep.

The only item the burglars got away with was a packet of cigarettes.

The men are described as:

Man 1: White aged around 18, about 5ft 9inches tall and skinny with dark brown hair. He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up and dark tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

Man 2: White, aged 18-20, around 6ft tall, skinny build, blonde or mousy brown hair. He wore a grey hoodie, dark tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

Officers believe this was not a random incident and that the flat was targeted.

Detectives are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the two burglars hanging around the area around the time or running from the scene.

They would also like to hear from anyone who may know who the men are.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Constable Gavin Jordan on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
