Southampton: Two Men Charged With Car Wash 'Slavery'

Two men have been charged following a police investigation into slavery and forced labour at a hand car wash in Southampton.

Kreshnik Dida, 27, of Southdene Road, Chandlers Ford, and Avdi Dida, 26, of Portsmouth Road, Southampton, are both accused of ten counts each of knowingly holding another person in slavery or servitude.
 
They were remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court this morning (Friday 23 May) where they were bailed to appear at Southampton Crown Court on 13 June.
 
On Tuesday 20 May, police and partner agencies visited a car wash business on Bitterne Road West, Bitterne, as part of a day of visits to such sites across Hampshire.
 
Ten men were identified as potential victims of exploitation and taken to a reception centre and are continuing to receive emotional and practical support.
