A woman from Southampton has been killed in a car crash.

At 2pm on Monday 25 November a silver Mondeo saloon car left the road in Wadhurst Road in Frant in Sussex, on the border with Kent.

About 200 metres from the junction with the A267 it collided with a tree.

The 64-year old Southampton woman driving the car, who was the only person inside, was freed from the car by firefighters and was treated by paramedics, but is believed to have died on impact.

The B2099 was closed while the incident was investigated but was opened again by 6pm.

Inspector Steve Grace of the Sussex Road Policing Unit at Polegate said:

"Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call us on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Contrast."
