Man Cautioned Over Attack On Teenage Girl In Southampton

Police say a man has come forward and been cautioned after a teenage girl was assaulted in Southampton following a dispute about a bin.

At around 4.30pm, Tuesday 4 February, the 15-year-old and a friend were walking home from school along Kathleen Road in Bitterne.
 
The victim stated that a man who was jogging along the road approached them claiming that they had knocked over a bin.
 
There was a dispute during which the man grabbed the girl’s hair and punched her in the ribs. A struggle ensued which ended when the man left.
 
The girl went home and did not seek medical attention.
 
The man is described as white, in his 40s or 50s, approximately 5’4” in height, average build and messy grey hair. He was wearing a bright blue top and black jogging leggings.
