A 16-year-old girl arrested on suspicion of the murder of a newborn baby found at a Hampshire railway station has been bailed by police.

The teenager was arrested on Tuesday following the discovery of the baby girl's body at Fleet railway station on May 26. The body was discovered by a cleaner in a plastic bag in a bin outside the station.

Police said the baby had suffered significant injuries that were not caused during childbirth. The teenager, from Hampshire, came forward last Friday after an appeal by police for her to seek medical attention.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said the teenager was released on police bail for six weeks pending further inquiries.
