Brothers In Court Charged With Eastleigh Murder

Two brothers charged with the murder of a popular Eastleigh newsagent have appeared in court again.

35-year-old Choudhry Zishan died from head injuries after being attacked on High Street on Sunday morning (30 March).

Jonathon McKinley, 22, and Samuel McKinley, 25, both of no fixed adress, appeared at Winchester Crown Court today (Friday 4 April.)

They've been remanded in custody until a plea hearing on 30 May.

A provisional trial date has been set for 29 September.

Mr Zishan, the married father of a young child had left his home in Eastleigh, to start work at a newsagent's shop when he was attacked at about 4.30am on Sunday (30 March). 

He was attacked by robbers who used an "extreme and sickening level of violence", detectives said. 

Officers and ambulance crew attended swiftly, and he was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination carried out at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester by a Home Office pathologist gave a cause of death as trauma to the head.

Detective Superintendent Paul Barton, of Hampshire Police, said: 

"It would appear that Mr Zishan had just left home for work when he was attacked. 

"I believe this was a robbery where the level of violence was extreme and sickening."

Flowers have been left outside the Newsmarket shop where Mr Zishan worked.
